Abstract
Polonica in Central State Historical Archive of St. Petersburg, Central State Archive of Literature and Arts of St. Petersburg and Central State Archive of Film and Photo Documents of St. Petersburg. The article presents results of search for archival materials pertaining to Poland and Poles, conducted in the archives of St. Petersburg – Central State Historical Archive of St. Petersburg, Central State Archive of Literature and Arts of St. Petersburg and Central State Archive of Film and Photo Documents of St. Petersburg. The query was limited to subjects related to Polish students and teachers at Petersburg universities in 19th century and the beginning of 20th century. At that time, Petersburg had one of the biggest communities of Polish students in Russia, studying at several establishments of tertiary education. The documents, preserved in St. Petersburg archives mentioned above, are important source materials for research of Polish diaspora in Petersburg in 19th century and the beginning of 20th century. They present political, economic and cultural life of Poles in Russian capital. Petersburg was an important gathering place for Polish diaspora, where the elites of future Polish state and Polish national culture were educated.
