ПРАВОСЛАВНА ВІРА – ХАРАКТЕРНА ОЗНАКА САМОСВІДОМОСТІ КОЗАЦТВА

Abstract
The article contains the results of the study the significance of the Orthodox faith as one of the Ukrainian Cossacks defining features. The authors consider the historical preconditions that led to the intensification of the Cossacks struggle against Uniate colonization. Also, the article explores how the Orthodox Church, which was their spiritual world, had an impact on everyday life of the Cossacks. The research was conducted by studying the historical document of the Constitution by PylypOrlyk and articles by such historians as O. Subtulny, V. Scherbak and D. Yavornytsky. The authors pay attention to the principled approach of the Cossacks in respect of the observance of the Orthodox canons, firmness and devotion in the process of protecting the interests of the Orthodox faith. Also, the authors emphasize the relevance of this work. That is why it focuses on the issue of knowledge and understanding of historical processes and facts that should lead to a constructive dialogue between Poland and Ukraine. The article is intended for the general public.
