PREECLAMPSIA AND PREGNANCY INDUCED HYPERTENSION - CLINICAL AND LABORATORY EXAMINATIONS
Journal Title: European Journal of Biomedical and Pharmaceutical Sciences - Year 2019, Vol 6, Issue 10
Abstract
Introduction: Pregnancy is a physiological condition in which regular controls are inevitable. Sometimes pathophysiological mechanisms develop such as preeclampsia and hypertension that can lead to further complication to the life of both the mother and the fetus. Purpose: The purpose of this study is to analyze and compare patients with preeclampsia and patients with pregnancy induced hypertension using clinical and laboratory examinations. Material and methods: For the purpose of this study, 168 pregnant patients were examined. They were divided into three groups. The first group consisted of 56 patients with preeclampsia. The second group consisted of 56 patients with pregnancy induced hypertension and the third group is a control group consisted of 56 patients. All patients were analyzed clinically and had laboratory parameters controlled. Laboratory parameters included analysing complete blood tests, urine samples, indicators of hepatic and renal function, proteins and factors of haemostasis. To display the results, statistical methods were used to calculate the mean and standard deviation as well as indicators of significance. Results and discussion: Elevated levels of LDH, ALT, AST, Urea, Uric acid, CREA Jafee gen 2, creatine kinase, decreased levels of total protein and albumin confirmed preeclampsia as a multisystem disorder. The larger differences in the comparison of parameters further differentiated preeclamsia with pregnancy-induced hypertension. Conclusion: Intensive monitoring in pregnant patients is inevitable. It is of high importance to make differential diagnosis between preeclampsia and pregnancy-induced hypertension. Thus preventive measures can be taken in consideration for further therapeutical protocols for preservation of the health of the patient and the fetus.
