Professional Proficiency for Effective Accounting Education and Practice for Coping with the Changing World: Nigeria’s Perception

Abstract

The research focused on professional proficiency for effective accounting education and practice for coping with a changing world: Nigeria’s perception. Both explorative and survey procedures were used to gather data for the study. The data obtained were analyzed using percentage and ordinary least square (OLS) methods. The analysis revealed that professional proficiency significantly influence effective accounting education and practice for coping with a changing world. And also, that there is no significant problem linked with the way the Nigerian accountants are being trained. In the light of the above findings, it was suggested that mandatory professional education and skills acquisition programs should constantly be mounted in accounting profession as practice in the legal and medical professions so as to enhance proper and proficiency acquisition which would ensure effective professional practice in the nation.
