PROGRAMA ESCOLAS BILÍNGUES DE FRONTEIRA: A CONSTRUÇÃO DE UMA IDENTIDADE INTERCULTURAL NO MERCOSUL

Abstract
No início da década de 1990 foi criado o Mercosul, um importante bloco econômico do qual participam a Argentina, o Brasil, o Paraguai e o Uruguai. Entre seus principais objetivos está a integração econômica entre os países membros, visando o desenvolvimento dos mesmos. Visando à construção de uma identidade regional interfronteiriça por meio do desenvolvimento de um programa para a educação intercultural, com ênfase no ensino de português e espanhol, foi criado o Programa Escolas Bilingues de Fronteira (PEBF). Este artigo faz um breve histórico do surgimento do Mercosul e sua importância para a região da Tríplice Fronteira; caracteriza essa região e apresenta o Projeto Escola Bilingue de Fronteira implantado em uma escola pública municipal de Foz do Iguaçu (Brasil) e em outra de Puerto Iguassu (Argentina).
