PROJECTING OF METACOGNITIVE DEVELOPMENT IN GERONTOGENESIS

Abstract
A psychological tool for the formation and cognition by a person of its own intellectual sphere is called metacog- nitions and the level of their functioning determines subjectness of the person and specific psychological features of its life process. The urgency of the problem of metacognitive development during the period of gerontogenesis is due to the fact that in this period there are fundamentally new problems associated with the social status changing and realizing the completion of one's life. The article represents the results of the experimental study of optimization of metacognitive development during the period of gerontogenesis, in which 257 people aged from 56 to 97 years took part. As a result of the conducted training work, it was found out that the level of optimization of the intellectual sphere of the participants of the main group is by 85% higher than that of the control group. The results of the study suggest that activation of the metacognitive sphere in later life is a condition for a positive aging pattern.
