Psychosocial effects of psoriasis in women who ent to the dermatology service of hospital Dr. “Israel Ranuárez Balza” of San Juan de los Morros, Guárico state - year 2016-2017

Abstract
Psoriasis is an autoimmune, chronic and currently incurable disease, which is not contagious and has a large inherited component. Objective: To analyze the women with psoriasis psychosocial effects in the Dermatology Service of the Dr. “Israel Ranuárez Balza” Hospital in San Juan de los Morros, Guárico state (Venezuela) in 2016-2017. Materials and methods: The research was a quantitative paradigm, was framed in the positivist approach, the type was field, descriptive and transversal level. In order to identify the women with psoriasis clinical-epidemiological characteristics, a sample of sixty (69) patients that make up the total medical Dermatology Service of the Dr. Israel Ranuárez Balza Hospital registered records, was taken for the year 2016-2017. From this total sample, twenty (20) patients were selected who attended the consultation to apply a questionnaire in order to investigate the possible psychosocial effects generated by this disease. Results: About the clinical-epidemiological characteristics in the patients, it can be highlighted that 30% have red spots on the skin of silver sores. The 56% distributed in symptoms and signs such as small scale points, dry and cracked skin that can bleeding, itching, burning, pain, striated and thickened nails and swelling and stiffness in the joints with 7% in each alternatives. The disease effects that impact psychosocially on the women consulted can be associated with the rejection of themselves, the abandonment of their favorite hobbies, and withdrawal from the social environment. Conclusions: the patients feel stigmatized getting to feel offensive glances from other people thus affecting their life quality.
