Abstract
Translation of a work, written or illustrated by means of verbal communication, is a very important act of communication. This means that it is impossible to speak about translation as a copyrighted work of an interpreter – it must be seen rather as a result of an agreement between the participants of the process of translation. It is an incredibly complex issue which consists of a number of factors. This paper deals with the relationships between the original text and its translation, and analyzes the roles performed by the various participants in the translation, and their impact on the final appearance of the translation which is a work created not only by the translator but also by the author of the original text, the initiator of translation, and its future audience (listeners or readers).
