REPRODUCTION OF SIMILE FROM R. BRADBURY’S COLLECTION “DARK CARNIVAL” IN UKRAINIAN TRANSLATION BY M. TOMAKHIV AND M. SHURPIK

Abstract
The article researches Ukrainian translations of four short stories by R. Bradbury (“Homecoming”, “Uncle Einar”, “The Traveler” (translated by M. Tomakhiv) and “The April Witch” (translated by M. Shurpik)) in terms of simile reproduction. The original is thoroughly analysed from the viewpoint of the functions of simile, their types and specificity of usage as well as the translators’ decisions as for the reproduction of simile in translation. The prospect of further research is mentioned, which lies in studying the reception of R. Bradbury’s short fiction in the Ukrainian polysystem.
