Research on the Influence of Host Image on Revisit Intention of Sports Events: The Chain Intermediary between Place Dependence and Place Identity

Abstract
In order to enhance the willingness to revisit sports events and promote their high-quality development, this paper constructs a model based on attitude theory, image transfer theory, and place attachment theory. It examines the influence mechanism of the host image on revisit intention while verifying the mediating effect of place dependence and place identity. Results indicate: (1) The host image positively influences place dependence and place identity; place dependence positively affects place identity and revisit intention, while place identity positively influences revisit intention. (2) Introducing the mediating variables of place dependence and place identity reveals that the host image has no direct effect on revisit intention, and similarly, the local image does not directly affect revisit intention. However, place dependence and place identity not only fully mediate the relationship between the host image and revisit intention but also establish a chain intermediary of “host image → place dependence → place identity → revisit intention”.
