Research progress in the regulation of cAMP for plant growth and development and stress adaptation

Abstract

In this review, we analyzed the catalytic center motifs of 11 plants, ACs identified, and found that 9 ACs had more than 2 catalytic center motifs, but how multiple motifs work together still needs further study. The role of cAMP in regulating ion homeostasis, pollen tube directional elongation, cell cycle, seed germination and stomatal closure in plant cells were explored. We also discussed some important cellular components and mechanisms of cAMP in plant adaptation to drought, cold, salt, disease, injury, high temperature and other stresses. This review pays special attention to the latest findings related to the cAMP regulatory gene expression network of plant stress resistance and promoting plant adaptation to stress, which can not only help people better understand the role of cAMP, but also provide a reference for further research and application of cAMP.
