Research progress of extracellular vesicles in the theranostics of kidney diseases
Journal Title: Biomedical Transformation - Year 2022, Vol 3, Issue 2
Abstract
Extracellular vesicles (EVs) are lipid bilayer-enclosed structures released by cells and encapsulate bioactive cargoes that act as an emerging messenger of intercellular communication in the development of kidney diseases. Currently, an increasing number of studies documented that, urinary EVs are packed with proteins and RNAs derived from renal resident cells, which could be served as a source of diagnostic biomarker. Furthermore, EVs are natural nanocarriers in the body with intrinsic characteristics, including great biocompatibility, low immunogenicity and low toxicity, which makes them great potential to apply for the treatment of kidney diseases. This review will focus on the current studies on EVs-based theranostics of kidney diseases.

Research progress of cell therapy in the preservation and functional repair of donor livers
Liver transplantation is the most effective treatment for end-stage liver diseases. However, the shortage of donor livers severely restricts the application of liver transplantation, and the impairments of liver function...
Application of hounsfield units of the distal fibula in evaluating bone mineral density of geriatric ankle fracture
Objective Ankle fracture is a common type of fracture with increasing incidence in recent years. It is mainly caused by osteoporosis and has not attracted much attention. This study aimed to measure the Hounsfield units...
Exploring the correlation between GIRK proteins and pain behavior in trigeminal neuralgia in mice
Objective Trigeminal neuralgia is the most common maxillofacial pain syndrome, and its etiology has not been fully understood. In this paper, we focus on the role and expression of G protein-gated inwardly rectifying pot...
Clinical evidence and effect mechanism of traditional Chinese medicine in the prevention and treatment of chronic kidney disease
Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a major disease that seriously endangers human health. Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) has certain characteristic effect in the prevention and treatment of CKD, especially in reducing u...
Advances on TGF-β/Smad signal pathway in hepatic fibrosis
The transforming growth factor-β (TGF-β) signaling pathway plays a vital role in regulating cell processes. As far as the liver is concerned, the TGF-β signaling pathway runs through liver diseases, from the initial live...
