RETROSPECTIVE ANALYSIS OF DEVELOPMENT AND BECOMING PROFESSIONAL TRAINING OF DOCTORS IN UKRAINE

Abstract

The relevance of the research. The most important spheres of social life are health care and medical education. The study of their development is significant because from the mid-80's. XX century up to the present time there has been a reform and search for ways to effectively train health professionals and achieve a high level of organization of medical care for the population. Unfortunately, the changes in these areas are on the way of the transition from free and public assistance to paid medicine, the same happens to the education of the physicians. Studying the history of the Ukrainian medicine helps to understand and evaluate the positive experience of health care, to foresee the main directions of its subsequent development. The history of health and medical education is part of the social history of society and is currently least studied by researchers. This is explained by the fact that the problems associated with the training of physicians and the organization of health care are within the interdisciplinary space at the junction of history, medicine and education. Understanding the social history of a region is impossible without studying these areas. Health care and medical education at all stages of historical development were closely linked, since the training of physicians, their specialization, the number of graduates directly depended on the needs of practical health care. In addition, for a long time (during almost the entire XX century), these social areas were under the same leadership: first the People's Commissariat of Health, then the Ministry of Health. The scientific significance of the article is actualized by the fact that the problems of the development of medical education and health care in Ukraine are not sufficiently covered in national historiography. The object of the research is health care and medical education. The subject of the study is the emergence, development and characteristics of the health care system and medical education in Ukraine in different historical epochs.
