Retrospective study for Sublayhernioplasty
Journal Title: Medpulse International Journal of Surgery - Year 2017, Vol 3, Issue 3
Abstract
Ventral hernias result from defect in the abdominal wall and it’s a common surgical condition with a reported incidence of 1-15% following all laparotomies. In Sublayhernioplasty, the prosthetic mesh is placed in the preperitoneal plane in retro-rectus space. The mesh placement is best engineered so as to be more physiological and abides by Pascal’s law. This study aims to find the rate of postoperative complications of Sublayhernioplasty. This retrospective study consisted of 70 cases operated by Sublayhernioplasty between 1st January 2009 to 1st January 2012 whose record were accessed and evaluated for a period of 7 years until 2016 with regards to postoperative complications (immediate and late). Based on this study, we concluded that Sublayhernioplasty is an ideal and cost-effective technique for ventral hernia.
