REVIEW OF THE CONCEPT OF KUKUNDARA MARMA

Abstract
Ayurveda is the traditional ancient Indian system of health science. 5000 years old practice focuses on harmonizing the body with nature. The holistic science has opened a number of concepts in front of the world. Marmasharir is one among them. Marmas are the conglomerations of structures like mamsa, sira, snayu, asthi and sandhi. Knowledge of marma is describe as half the knowledge of shalyatantra. Injury to the marma though slight will produce severe pain, deformity and even death. Hence they should treat with great care and effort. Most of the ancient text of Ayurveda has given importance to marma Kukundaramarma is one among the prushtagatamarma. It is vaikalyakaramarama as per prognostic classification and sandhimarma as per structural classification. Trauma to the marma leads to sparshaadnyana and cheshtahani of the lower limb. In this article an attempt is made to study the kukundaramarma by considering the related structures.
