Review of the Most Important Design Optimization Technique of Composite Wing
Journal Title: INCAS BULLETIN - Year 2016, Vol 8, Issue 4
Abstract
The scope of wing optimization is to design a structure that meets all the airworthiness demands while minimizing its weight. This paper introduces a review for the most important optimization design tools of composite wings with multiple load cases and large scale design variables. Each discipline resorts to accurate design to ensure better performance. Accurate design and multidisciplinary optimization design for wings need large scale design variables. The structural design of an airframe is determined by multidisciplinary criteria (stress, fatigue, buckling, control surface effectiveness, flutter and weight etc.). Several thousands of structural sizes of stringers, panels, ribs etc. have to be determined considering hundreds of thousands of requirements to find an optimum solution, i.e. a design fulfilling all requirements with a minimum weight or minimum cost respectively.

MDO approach for a two-stage microlauncher
The paper focuses on the multidisciplinary optimisation and preliminary design of a two-stage microlauncher capable of inserting a small 50 kg payload into Low Earth Orbit. The microlauncher is obtained using a MDO appro...
Traian Vuia – the Romanian inventor who first flew a powered airplane in 1906
As observed the beginning of heavier than air devices started with Wright Brothers who flew in 1903 the first catapulted airplane equipped with an engine, similar to present motor gliders. In March 1906 took place the fi...

Rotordynamic Analysis of Textured Annular Seals With Multiphase (Bubbly) Flow
For some applications it must be considered that the flow in the annular seal contains a mixture of liquid and gas. The multiphase character of the flow is described by the volume fraction of gas (usually air) contained...
