REVIEW ON LUNG CANCER WITH SPECIAL EMPHASIS ON COMPLEMANTORY AND ALTERNATIVE MEDICINE

Abstract
Lung cancer has a poor prognosis; over half of people diagnosed with lung cancer die within one year of diagnosis and 5 years survival is less than 18%. Depending upon the staging of lung cancer , patients are eligible from surgery to radiation to chemotherapy as well as targeted therapy, advancement of genetics (where next generation sequencing reveals novel resistance mechanism and acquired resistance to EGFR), biomarker testing, specific mutation have been identified for better treatment. In other case complementary and alternative system of medicine are also useful. Many medical plants have been tested for anti lung cancer activity and these herbs include a variety of alkaloids, triterpenoid, flavanoids, and polysaccharides. They have been demonstrated to prevent adverse effect of the use of single drug. This review focus on the different treatments those are available to the lung cancer patients and the way to suppress the side effects.
