ROLE AND PLACE OF GRID TECHNOLOGIES IN PROVIDING THE COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGES OF THE REGION

Abstract
The article reveals the essence of Grid technologies. The reasons for their large-scale use at the present stage of informatization of the society are considered. The directions of using Grid technologies in scientific, applied, social, and also in business sphere are described. Their role in formation of competitive advantages of the region is defined. Attention is focused on the need to take effective measures aimed at eliminating the digital divide in regions, cities and rural areas.
