Journal Title: International Journal of Physiology - Year 2017, Vol 5, Issue 1

Abstract

Background: This study was conducted to see the role of Yoga in improving lipid profile in diabetic subjects. Method: Out of 77 patients of diabetes, 36 were in group 1st (control group) and 41 patients were in group 2nd (study group). Yogic exercises were practiced by study group for 3 continuous months. Result: In this study significant improvement in lipid profile was found i.e triglyceride decreased from 151.15±23.92 mg/dl to 123.17±29.31 mg/dl (p <0.001) and HDL increased from 38.67±6.51 mg/dl to 46.51±5.51 mg/dl (p<0.001). When both control and study group were compared after 3 months a significant statistical improvement was found TG (t=4.40;p <0.001), HDL (t=-6.670; p <0.001) respectively. Conclusion: There is significant improvement in various lipid profile in diabetic subjects.
