ROMANTISM OF THE XIX CENTURIES IN THEATER IMAGES OF ITS CONTEMPORARIES: JULY DUUBOUR AND HIS «COUNTESS VODZINSKA»

Abstract
The article deals with the reflection of romantic images of 19th-century artists and their surroundings in the Dialogues about Chopin by Jules Dufour. The French society of the era of classical literature is reflected through its perceptions and value judgments of the contemporary of those events that were personally familiar with such prominent cultural figures as Frederic Chopin, Adam Mickiewicz, Alfred de Musset and George Sand. Comparing “Dialogues about Chopin” with his documentary biographies, the author analyzed the real and artistic, sublime and comic, organically interwoven in the immortal “Dialogues”. “Dialogues about Chopin” reflect a detailed picture of the first half of the nineteenth century`s culture elite`s life, their lifestyle, behavior, ways of communication. Of course, the fantasy of Jules Dufour has taken place here. An exaggeration and even a certain parody, take place in the Dialogues. However, the social world, reflected through the estimation of the eyewitness and participant in those events, is always more truthful and realistic than the speculations of biographers who lived centuries later, no matter how monumentally they tried to reflect that romantic epoch. That is why “Dialogues about Chopin” should not disappear from the bookshelves of true connoisseurs of classical art, because they really are the breath of the European life of the first half of the XIX century.
