Abstract
Implementation of the new Registry Office Records Acts is without any doubt an important event both for the state functioning and the citizens. It seems also to be a good point to pay attention to the one of the most important elements of the marital status registration system, that is the person who performs this registration. In Poland it is performed by the registrar, who since 1995 is refered to as the Superintendant Registrar or deputy Superintendant Registrar. In accordance with the Registry Office Records Act this is wojt (city mayor), who fulfills the function of Superintendant registrar from the time of his election. Is there any other person employed in the post of the Superintendant Registrar or deputy Superintendant Registrar, we face the question who is the Superintendant Registrar in the light of structural law.
