Scale and determinants of the designation of forest land for non-forest purposes in Poland
Journal Title: Acta Scientarum Polonorum Administratio Locorum - Year 2019, Vol 18, Issue 2
Abstract
In Poland a part of forest land is annually excluded from production and designated for non-forest purposes. The article shows the scale, directions and spatial differences of this phenomenon. It also discusses the legal conditions of forestland exclusion from production. The study period covers the years 2002–2016. The analysis was conducted by voivodeships and poviats. The research proved that in the analysed years the area designated for non-forest purposes increased 3 times. Treasury land prevails in the ownership structure of woodland excluded from production. The prevailing purpose of its exclusion is for mined land (57.6%). The least important is the designation for the construction of water reservoirs (2.2%) and their share in the years 2002–2016 shows a declining trend.
