SCHOOL LEADERSHIP AND MANAGEMENT IN ENGLAND AND WALES

Abstract

Thearticleprovides a brief survey of the theoretical underpinnings for the field of educational leadership and management. In particular, the studies in the works of T. Bush, R. Glatter, M. Gove, P. Earley, B.Caldwell, K.Leithwood, B. Levin,V. Robinson are analyzed. Thepaper exploresthe influence of leadership and management on teaching and learning outcomes. Attention is paid to the issue of school "self managing". The survey discovers the role and responsibilities of school leaders and new forms of autonomous learning. The analysis of the common types of leadership models is presented.
