Selected cases of porcelain veneers application on discoloured teeth after tetracyclines

Abstract
Porcelain veneers are dental restorations covering labial surfaces of teeth, mainly in anterior or anterior-distal parts of dental arch. Veneers are used especially in teeth resistant to bleaching, e.g., discoloured as a result of tetracycline or endodontic treatment. Because of minimally invasive preparation of such teeth it is extremely difficult to achieve satisfactory colour depth. This paper provides indications and contraindications for application of porcelain veneers. A new approach to preparation of teeth is presented and dentine protection discussed.In addition, the role played by the patient and proper cooperation with dental technician is stressed. Several difficult clinical cases of porcelain veneers application on discoloured teeth after endodontical and tetracycline treatment, decayed or misformed teeth are described.
