SELF-CONCEPT AS PSYCHOLOGICAL CATEGORY

Abstract
Development of problem of self-knowledge has long psychological and philosophical tradition. Moreover, this question is the object of empiric psychological researches. Next to it largely there is валидным expression of А. Leontiev, that character problem I slips out from a scientifically-psychological analysis. Only determination of concept of Self-concept does not exist in psychology. Widespread determination that exposes Self-concept from the point of view of his emotionally-evaluation side, equating him with a concept «self-appraisal» and «self-esteem». This conception belongs Shavelson R. J. Determination of Self-concept is known also through the concept of social setting related to the theory of three-component structure of attitude. In the article conceptions are examined To C. Rogers, Е. Erikson, L. Festinger, and other authors R. Burns. The row of the researches conducted the last years showed that the problem of Self-concept did not have lost the value and presently. As well as any theoretical conceptions considered in the real article is not only faithful and irreproachable, however to date they are most acceptable, that allow to systematize information and build further suppositions about nature of Self-concept. In spite of good few of researches in the field of it, many questions remain unsolved, in particular, processes of change and development of Self-concept in the conditions of the modern world. These questions are a theme for new researches.
