Shelterwood felling and reforestation in pine stands of the Eastern Polesie
Journal Title: Лісівництво і агролісомеліорація - Year 2013, Vol 123, Issue
Abstract
In mature pine forests of fresh and humid subors of Chernihiv and Sumy regions regular shelterwood and group shelterwood fellings of different variants had been carried out. The productivity of pine seeds was determined and activities to promote the regeneration are implemented. The dynamics of renewal and growth of natural regeneration and advance growth for pine trees had been studied. It was determined by economic assessment that regular shelterwood felling in pine stands in Eastern Polesie is 1.3 times more efficient than a clear principal felling followed by the creation of pine-trees cultures.
