Socially Responsible Investing as a Promising Direction of the Investment Activity: the Nature and Trends

Abstract
The article analyses the essence of socially responsible investing, the key milestones of its development, foreign experience, and current trends. Also we analyzed the factors of appearance and spread of the discussed phenomenon, and modern principles used by socially responsible investors in the formation of investment portfolios. These proposals are presented for the modern interpretation of these principles. We investigated the question of compliance of these principles with financial institutions and outlined current trends in socially responsible investing in the world and in Ukraine and prospects for its further development within the ideology of sustainable development. We also studied the importance of awareness of the importance of this investment strategy and facilitate its implementation at the level of investors, businesses, and at the level of the state, its institutions, at the legislative level and at the level of society and public organizations.
