Solid Lipid Nanoparticles – characteristics, application and obtaining

Journal Title: CHEMIK nauka-technika-rynek - Year 2011, Vol 65, Issue 10

Abstract

Solid lipid nanoparticles (SLN) have attracted increasing attention as novel carrier systems for active substances, not only in farmaceutic, but also in cosmetic and food industry. Being in the market for about 20 years they gradually replace traditional colloidal systems while maintaining their advantages. In this paper general characteristic of solid lipid nanoparticles was done indicating their structure and properties. The most frequent production techniques was discussed and some examples of applying SLN to encapsulation of various drugs (with aspects of release) was given.
