SOME SIGNS OF A LACK OF INFORMATION LITERACY IN VILNIAUS KOLEGIJA / UNIVERSITY OF APPLIED SCIENCES FACULTY OF EDAGOGIC

Abstract

In the process of changing educational paradigm Universities of Applied Sciences must adopt new methods and techniques in organization of study process. One of the most important components of study process formation - promoting of students general competencies that gives opportunity for them on the one hand – to be successful learners and flexible, competent workers in labour market – on the other. Information Literacy competence seems to be one of the most important general competences in the process of studies. It facilitates searching and critical reflection of information during problem solving or project implementation process. Still the newest researches show lack of Information literacy competences in Vilniaus kolegija / University of Applied Sciences Faculty of Pedagogic that predestines lower quality of studies and lower employability. Authors reflect on necessity to integrate information literacy competences into each study programme.
