Abstract

In this study, the critical thoughts of the sociologists and educators of the statement after the decision taken in 1924 for the first time to include sociology in the teacher school curriculum will be discussed. İbrahim Alaaddin Gövsa, who expressed his opinion on the curriculum of sociology, also expressed the first criticisms in this direction. In addition, Hilmi Ziya Ülken's article, which was written by Gövsa in 1927, was also discussed in this study in terms of revealing the perspective of the period regarding the sociology curriculum and the formations of teachers who will teach the course. In this article, the main points on which Ibrahim Alaaddin Gövsa's and Hilmi Ziya Ülke's criticisms of sociology education are based and their reasons and the Western sources that form the basis of the opinions of the thinkers will be examined and the perspective of the place of sociology in education will be put forward.
