Abstract
The main aim of the paper is an overview of Prof. Dr. Walter Sperling life work, famous german geographer and a great expert and friend of Slovak Geography. His unexpected death in full working effort is not only a great loss to the geographic community. In this paper, we will point out the major contribution of Prof. Dr. Walter Sperling work for Slovak geography. We will focus primarily on those areas that significantly contributed to new important knowledge from which next generations of Slovak geographers can draw on.
