Abstract
The Meeting of Novice Teachers with the Culture of the Organization and Finding Their Own Way of Teaching The presented text is related to some items of social and institutional work determinants of novice preschool teachers, and in particular the role of institution culture in building a learning environment. My considerations are focused upon three items. I start with describing the importance of an educational institution’s culture for being a teacher, which is the background for the presentation of my own research results. I attempt to find an answer to the following question: how important is the culture of preschool for forms of activity chosen by novice teachers? Empirical materials come from the analysis of 21 narratives preschools teachers about their teaching practice. The analysis shows a subjective perspective acquire professional competence in culture of the preschool. I show dilemmas faced by a novice preschool teacher in the confrontation with the culture of the preschool. In the final part of the text, I try to show that the comprehension and creation of everyday educational situations as well as the role of subjects functioning in an educational situation are variable, because it is always an individual choice dependent upon prior experiences as well as cultural and social conditions.
