Abstract
Steel in architecture. The aim of the article is to define the aesthetic role of steel in architecture while taking into account its specificity. In the article some selected examples of contemporary buildings (completed and designed) as well as references to the historical solutions have been included. In summation it has been concluded that the use of steel comes down to the direct and indirect role in shaping the spatial forms of buildings and it may bring new aesthetics in contemporary architecture.<br/><br/>
