Abstract
У статті аналізуються результати одноденного перепису Києва, проведеного Південно-Західним відділом Російського географічного товариства, визначені особливості організаційної підготовки до його проведення, що забезпечило з’ясовувати не лише загальну кількість населення та його етнічно-соціальний склад, але й рівень розвитку житлового фонду і комунального господарства міста. The article analyzes the results of Kyiv one-day census conducted by the South-East department of the Russian Geographical Society. It defines the peculiarities of its preparation and organization. Examining issues of the statistical studies historical past enables to engage gained experience in order to upgrade the population accounting system in Ukraine nowadays. It was determined that the main purpose of census was to obtain multiform data as to Kyiv city and its population including the state of development of the city’s housing and communal services. To achieve the purpose in view the detailed census programme with the distinct definitions of all the questions come under accounting was developed. The census of Kyiv housing stock covered private, state and public buildings. The data on the city buildings included their general purpose, certain technical characteristics, year of construction, peculiarities of location, level of amenities, provision with communal public services etc. There was also conducted a detached census of Kyiv flats. At the time of the census there was traced an increase in city’s building activity in the last few years especially in Starokyivska and Lybid’ska parts of the city. The conducted analysis of the census statistical results indicates that the majority of Kyiv city buildings in the second half of the XIX century didn’t have centralized water supply and centralized lighting. The component of the statistical data obtained during the census was the data on the general quantity of vehicles, cattle and domestic animals that were in possession of the city dwellers. The results of the census became the powerful source of information for defining the existing problems of the city and searching for their possible solution. The information obtained influenced the development and realisation of many aspects of administration management and social policy at the city level.
