Static switch in microgrids

Journal Title: International Research Journal of Applied and Basic Sciences - Year 2013, Vol 7, Issue 2

Abstract

Static switch is placed between microgrid and main grid. It connects microgrid to main grid or disconnects it occasionally. Static switch performs three tasks: synchronization of microgrid and main grid, short circuit detection and reverse power detection. In this study, functional duties of static switches in microgrids are firstly investigated. After presenting a complete explanation of each task, its implementation is described. Functional problems are mentioned in implementation of each part. Then, solutions to overcome these problems are proposed which make performance of static switch more accurate and precise.
