Structural and semantic means of creating the portrait of protagonist (on the basis of “The Story of Bandbox” by R. L. Stevenson)

Abstract
The given article presents an attempt to describe structural and linguistic means of creating the protagonist’s portrait based on “The Story of Bandbox” by R.L. Stevenson. The author gives a com- prehensive analysis of the notion “narrative compositional forms” and emphasizes the characteristic features of description. Moreover, the paper reveals the notion “portrait” and provides detailed infor- mation on its pragmatic functions and types.
