Study of endometrial hyperplasia using morphometry assisted techniques in a tertiary care hospital

Journal Title: Medpulse International Journal of Pathology - Year 2018, Vol 7, Issue 2

Abstract

Background: Endometrial hyperplasiais an important cause of abnormal uterine bleeding. The diagnosis of endometrial hyperplasia continues to be a diagnostic dilemma for pathologists due to histopathological variations. This can be resolved by morphometrical techniques. The objective of this study was to study endometrial hyperplasia with computer assisted analysis. Methods: This study was conducted in the department of Pathology, Al Azhar Medical College and Super Speciality Hospital, Thodupuzhafor one year period from January 2016 to January 2017. 100 patients diagnosed with endometrial hyperplasia were selected for study. Nuclear morphometric analysis was performed on H and E stained section.100 nuclei is measured in the mostcystically dilated and glandular crowded areas using ProGres Capture Pro software. Statistical Analysis: The results obtained in this study were analysed using descriptive statistical method. Results: Among the 100 cases, 81% was simple hyperplasia, 16% complex hyperplasia and 3% was atypical hyperplasia.
