STUDY ON STABILITY OF THE PROPERTIES OF STABILISED OIL COMPOSITIONS AFTER TESTS OF THE ACCELERATED OXYGENATION

Journal Title: Tribologia - Year 2011, Vol 235, Issue 1

Abstract

The opinion of the stability of properties of oil compositions after the process of accelerated oxygenation was introduced in the study. The object of investigations was rapeseed oil and oil compositions with the addition of oil from Sylibum marianum (L.) OC and with the addition ETH and BCH. The comparison of properties of studied additions was executed before and after the test of accelerated oxygenation. The influence of this process was examined concerning the change of estimated proprieties and the effectiveness of the working of the applied inhibitors of the oxygenation. A differential scanning calorimeter (DSC) was applied to the opinion of the stability of the estimated properties of the oil compositions. The characteristic parameters were read from DSC exotherm and then used to assess the oils oxidative stabilities. Several oils have been tested using the Four–Ball Testing Machine and its modified version. The properties of the studied oil compositions were estimated to the standard PN-76 /C-04147 and were estimated on the value of scuffing load (Pt) and limiting pressure of seizure (poz). The profitable influence of applied inhibitors was affirmed on the stability of properties of the studied oil compositions after the tests of accelerated oxygenation.
