SUSTAINABLE BUILDING AS A MANIFESTATION OF INNOVATIVENESS IN THE REAL ESTATE SECTOR

Abstract
After Poland’s accession to the European Union, the speed of changes occurring in the world economy has become a driver for economic growth. Social vision of the market economy in Europe of the 21st century emphasizes sustainable development of the world economy as one of top priorities. The area of sustainable building is among leading markets in this vision. Based on the EUROPE 2020 strategy, this study discusses the Lead Market Initiatives (LMI), with particular focus on one of the leading areas of the economy: sustainable buildings. The techniques, components and costs were discussed for sustainable building as one of leading top-priority sectors of the Union with presentation of sustainable building in Poland. The future building was also presented as sustainable building. It was emphasized that implementation of new technologies and solutions in the construc-tion sector as innovations have an important effect on development of the priority domain of sustain-able building. The conclusion of the study is that using innovative technologies in the construction sector of the future substantially improves their competitiveness in the global market.
