Abstract
The article shows the presence of the patron saint of Silesia in the history and sources of the Congregation of Sisters of Saint Hedwig. In the first part it indicates the importance of Saint Hedwig’s example for the servant of God, Father Robert Spiske – the Founder of the Congregation, by analyzing, among others, his sermons dedicated to her honour, and his charitable activities, for which he chose Saint Hedwig as a patron. In the second part the author discusses the legal and liturgical sources of the congregation and selected paintings, analyzed in the light of the presence and inspiration of Saint Hedwig’s example.
