SYNTHESIS OF SOME SUBSTITUTED BENZIMIDAZOLE DERIVATIVES FOR ANTIBACTERIAL ACTIVITY

Journal Title: International Research Journal of Pharmacy (IRJP) - Year 2015, Vol 6, Issue 1

Abstract

In the present study synthesis and evaluation of antibacterial activity of various substituted benzimidazole derivatives condensed with different amines was undertaken. The derivatives were synthesized in moderate to good yields. The synthesized compounds were characterized by IR, 1H NMR and Mass spectral studies. All the compounds were subjected for antibacterial screening, among them 3a, 3b, 3g and 3h showed appreciable activity against the organisms used. The antibacterial activity studies suggested that these derivatives may be further investigated for future drug development.
