SYSTEM OF DEAMON PROPER NAMES IN THE HORROR STORY «DAGON»

Abstract
This article shows peculiarities of functioning of specific onomastics, which is referred to the demons’ names in the short story of American writer, journalist and poet Howard Phillips Lovecraft «Dagon». Different Ukrainian and foreign scientists have been studying onomastics, the separate area of linguistic about proper names. In the centre of this research is the description of onyms’ status in the construction of text’s onomastics space. As a material for the study it has been chosen such specific literary genre as horror fiction. This genre is intended to scare readers with the feeling of horror and terror, which is provoked by specific lexical instruments such as demon proper names, namely Dagon. This ononym plays one of the most important roles in the formation process of the text’s lexical system. This article studies set of characteristics, which are typical to the literature of horror and proper names usage for the creation of specific atmosphere.
