SYSTEM OF VALUES IN INTEGRATED SCHOOL ADOLESCENTS

Abstract

Integrated education has quite a short history in Poland – before, segregated edu-cation, which separated persons with disabilities from their nondisabled peers, was the dominant model. The integrated system is to combine children with various educational needs and enable them to gain experiences together in the process of schooling. The re-search aimed to study the system of instrumental and terminal values in integrated class adolescents with statements of special educational needs. It was carried out in Stanisław Staszic Technical and General Education School Complex with Integrated Classes in Bia-łystok. The diagnostics poll method was used and a survey questionnaire designed by the author. Values were studied based on M. Rokeach’s classification, which consists of 18 terminal values (goals) and 18 instrumental values (means). The research findings point to the students’ low self-esteem and intense striving for equality and social recognition, thus being a challenge for the integrated education system.
