Teaching Basic Ideas in Logic Using E-learning Tools
Journal Title: EAI Endorsed Transactions on e-Learning - Year 2017, Vol 4, Issue 13
Abstract
This paper is a study of various e-learning strategies for teaching basic ideas in logic. The focus is mainly on syllogistic validity and deduction. It is a continuation of earlier studies involving practical experiments with students of Communication using the Syllog system, which makes it possible to develop e-learning tools and to do learning analytics based on log-data. The aim of the present paper is to investigate whether the Syllog e-learning tools can be helpful in logic teaching in order to obtain a better understanding of logic and argumentation in general and syllogisms in particular. Four versions of a course in basic logic involving different teaching methods will be compared. Both short- and longterm effects are discussed.

Analysis of Student Online Interaction Behavior: A Social Relationship Perspective
Mobile opportunistic networks (MONs) have been attracting increasing amounts of attention in recent years. Characterizing user contact behavior provides a baseline to evaluate the performance of these networks. However,...
From structured to unstructured learning via a technology-mediated learning framework
In this paper we propose a simple technology-mediated framework for course design. By way of a group project, students were asked to discuss issues about their local culture using their second language. We illustrate tha...
Sub-pixel Edge Detection of LED Probes Based On Partial Area Effect
In recent years, the demands for LED are increasing. For testing the quality of LEDs, a lot of LED probes are necessary, so the high precision and efficient methods are paid more attention by industrial applications. Thi...
Fostering collective intelligence education
New educational models are necessary to update learning environments to the digitally shared communication and information. Collective intelligence is an emerging field that already has a significant impact in many areas...
Animating Instructional Materials in Computer Education: An Approach to Designing and Teaching Concepts in Data Structures Using LATEX
Animation gives a different perception on what is being visually presented. Research has shown that students are likely to understand what is being taught from the combination of animation and text than just with text. S...
