Abstract
The article deals with the theoretical approaches in establishing the system of exercises and tasks in teaching foreign language speaking in contemporary new school. The notions “exercise” and “task” are investigated in the scope of teaching foreign language speaking. The classification of exercises taking into account of different scientific approaches is outlined. The system of exercises and tasks from the side of the process of receiving knowledge and the process of speaking a foreign language is given. The perspectives of further investigations are outlined according to the field of study.
