Abstract
In the article in the historical and pedagogical aspect the theory and practice of economic education of children and youth on the lands of Western Ukraine of the first half of the twentieth century are considered. Attention is drawn to the fact that Ukrainian teachers considered professional economic education, trade education and mastery of the banking business of Ukrainian youth as an important factor in the social independence of man, and in the future creation of an independent state of Ukraine. Of considerable importance was the study of the psychology of inclinations and abilities, the professional suitability of a person to choose a profession. This contributed to the creation of a special institution, professional advice for choosing a rank with a professional counselor led by a teacher, a school doctor and a specialist psychologist. The analysis of the state of practical activity, pedagogical forms and methods of economic societies, teachers, church leaders in the economic education of children and youth is made. The possibility of using pedagogical experience in modern conditions is being updated.
