The activity of the Interdepartmental Commission forMaximum Admissible Concentrations and Intensities for Agents Harmful to Health in the Working Environment in 2014–2016
Journal Title: Podstawy i Metody Oceny Środowiska Pracy - Year 2016, Vol 32, Issue 4
Abstract
In the third part of the National Programme “Improvement of safety and working condi-tions”, the Commission met at 10 sessions, during which the following items were discussed:– 35 documentations for recommended exposure limits of chemical substances prepared by the Group of Expert for Chemical Agents – the position of the Group of Experts on Noise on the result of tests and proce-dures for measuring low-frequency and ultrasound noise – a proposal to amend provisions of dusts listed in Part B of Annex 1 to the Regula-tion of the Minister of Labour and Social Policy of June 6, 2014– the amendment of MAI for electromagnetic fields harmonizing intensity levels of workers exposure to the requirements of Directive 2013/35/EU of the European Parliament and of the Council 2013/35/EU of June 26, 2013, on the minimum health and safety requirements regarding the exposure of workers to the risks caused by physical factors (electro-magnetic fields). The Interdepartmental Commission for MAC and MAI accepted 10 proposals to the minister responsible for revising the list of maximum admissible concentrations and intensity of agents harmful to health in the working envi-ronment in the following areas:– introducing in Annex 1 in Part A and B maximum admissible concentrations for 11 new chemicals and changes for 24 chemicals – introducing in Annex 1 in Part B of the list of Dust, subscriptions for wood dust– the occupational limit value for 1,2-dichloroethane will be discussed again by the Interdepartmental Commission for MAC and MAI in 2017. The substance is carcinogenic for humans. For technical reasons, in the number of technological processes, it will be difficult to maintain proposed by the Group of Experts for Chemical Agents limit value 10 mg/m3 (the proposition for binding value adopted by the Advisory Committee for Safety and Health at Work is 8.2 mg/m[sup]3[/sup]).In 2014–2016 the Interdepartmental Commission for MAC and MAI worked on adapting the Polish list of MAC to the draft of the Directive establishing the fourth list of indicative occupa-tional exposure limit values and to the Di-rective of the European Parliament and of the Council amending Directive 2004/37/ EC on the protection of workers from the risks related to exposure to carcinogens or mutagens at work. The results of the Commission’s work in 2014–2016 were propagated in 12 issues of Principles and Methods of Assessing the Working Envi-ronment, in which was published: 25 documents of occupational exposure levels for chemicals, 39 methods for determining concen-trations of chemicals in the working environ-ment, 13 articles and annual reports on the ac-tivities of the Commission. The results of the Commission’s activities in 2014–2016 were presented in 8 publications on a national scale, 3 publications of international range and 10 presentations in the national conferences.
