The Determination of the Phase Transformations and the Activation Energies in TiNi Smart Alloys
Journal Title: Gazi Üniversitesi Fen Bilimleri Dergisi Part C: Tasarım ve Teknoloji - Year 2016, Vol 4, Issue 3
Abstract
In this study, the phase transformation characteristics of a Ti50,1Ni49,9 (% at.) alloy were investigated through Dynamic Scanning Calorimetry technique with various heating/cooling rates and the effects of the heating/cooling rates on properties such as phase transformation temperatures and hysteresis were studied. Activation energies of the transformations completed with different heating/cooling rates were calculated using Kissinger and Ozawa methods. On the other hand, the thermal cycles were repeated 5 times to track the possible effects of cycling on the properties. It was found that the transformation temperatures decreased with cycling while the thermal hysteresis increased with the heating/cooling rate.
