The effect of asynchronous installation of composite support system on the convergence in non-circular tunnels
Journal Title: International Research Journal of Applied and Basic Sciences - Year 2013, Vol 6, Issue 8
Abstract
This study has been in moderately weathered tuffs and in hydrostatic stress conditions wherenon–circular tunnels have been excavated. In tunnel modeling, six radiuses of tunnels in 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 meters analyzed using phase2 software and ground reaction curves (GRC) are plotted on the sections of tunnel. Also the effect of synchronous and asynchronous installation of compound supporting systems on the convergence of tunnels are studied. The support systems which are used in this modeling are bolt and shotcrete. The obtain results represent that the synchronous and asynchronous installation of the bolt and shotcrete as a compound supporting system have different influences on the convergence of the tunnels however the results are so close. Finally the most effective way for decreasing theamount of convergence is synchronous installation of bolt and shotctere.
