The Effect of Drying Methods on Chemical Composition and Digestibility of Leucaena Leucocephala Leaves.
Journal Title: Global Journal of Animal Scientific Research - Year 2016, Vol 4, Issue 1
Abstract
On average Leucaena leucocephala leaves contained 222.2 g/kg DM crude proteins, 315.7 g/kg DM neutral detergent fiber concentration, 234.1 g/kg DM acid detergent fiber concentration, 1.85% Ca, 0.198% P, 23.4 g/kg tannin concentrations and 54.9% digestibility. It was concluded the L. leucocephala leaves contain adequate amount of nutrients to support microbial growth and to feed animals. Method of drying samples (air-dried, sun-dried and soaked plus sun-dried) showed that sun-drying and soaking plus sun-drying slightly increased the level of dry matter, organic matter, neutral detergent fiber and acid detergent fiber. However, the levels of tannin concentration were reduced in sun-dried and soaked samples compared to air dried samples.

Effect of Conventional or Plant-Based Diets on the Productivity of Broiler Chickens.
The study was conducted to investigate the gross responses, meat yield traits and excreta/litter quality of broilers fed diets based on only plant ingredients or conventional diets containing animal protein. A total of...
DGAT1 Gene in Dairy Cattle
The interest in the bovine DGAT1 gene has increased during the last few years. DGAT1 gene, encodes a microsomal enzyme that by using diacylglycerol and fatty acyl CoA as substrates catalyzes the terminal and committed...
Lactogenic and Reproductive Potentials of Spreading Day Flower (Commelina Diffusa Burm. F) and Rock Fig (Ficus Ingens Miq.) In Rabbit Does
Lactogenic and reproductive potentialities of Commelina diffusa and Ficus ingens were studied using twenty-four (24) nulliparous New Zealand White does. The does were mated to mature bucks, and divided into four (4) tr...
Interactions between Dietary Minerals and Reproduction in farm Animal
The production efficiency of farm animals is largely dependent on their reproductive performance, and there are interactions between reproductive performance and mineral status. Minerals are inorganic nutrients, usuall...
Effectiveness of Using Brilliant Cresyl Blue Staining for Quality Evaluation and Developmental Competence of Immature and Mature Buffalo Oocytes
The present study aimed to evaluate the effect of brilliant cresyl blue (BCB) stain on quality and developmental competence of mature and immature buffalo oocytes. Oocytes were exposed to BCB stain diluted in mDPBS (DP...
